Catinaccio and Sassolungo Traverse - Ski Touring

Departure from Passo Carezza towards Rifugio Roda di Vael, along a scenic route offering spectacular views of Val di Fassa. The Pale di San Martino, Vallaccia, and Marmolada mountain ranges are clearly visible on the horizon. Once you reach Passo delle Cigolade, the route continues with an exciting descent into the picturesque Gardeccia basin, down to the Stella Alpina Spiz Piaz mountain hut.

Waking up in the Gardeccia basin, dominated by the imposing east face of the Catinaccio, will leave everyone speechless. It will be just the prelude to the spectacle that will accompany us throughout the day.

With skis on our feet, we will climb up the valley, passing under the Torri del Vajolet, to Passo Principe, where there is a small refuge nestled in the rock. From here, we will quickly reach Passo Antermoia.

The descent will be difficult to forget, not only because of the magnificent surroundings, but also because of the picturesque passage over the frozen lake of Antermoia and the refuge of the same name, before continuing towards Val Duron, where we will spend the night at the Micheluzzi Refuge.

We will climb up Val Duron to the Sassopiatto Refuge, then descend to Alpe di Siusi and enter the heart of the Sassolungo group.

From here, we will reach the Vicenza Refuge and, crossing the Sassolungo pass, we will have access to the slopes of the Dolomiti Superski area, which will take us on a long and pleasant descent to Canazei.

Finally, we will return to Passo Carezza by ski bus.

The entire route does not present any particular difficulties, either physical or technical: the daily elevation gain never exceeds 900 meters.
