Capanna Margherita ascent with mountain guide - Europe's highest hut

Capanna Margherita (4,554 m), on Punta Gnifetti of Monte Rosa, is the highest hut in Europe and represents one of the most intense and fascinating experiences of high-altitude mountaineering. An ascent that takes you above 4,500 meters, among great glaciers, endless panoramas and true high mountain environment.

What level do you need to climb to Capanna Margherita?

The climb to Capanna Margherita does not have extreme technical passages, but takes place entirely in a glacial environment at high altitude.

Excellent physical condition, endurance and ability to maintain a steady pace for many hours is required, as well as good familiarity with crampons and roped progression.

How does the Capanna Margherita ascent work?

The ascent usually takes two days, departing from Alagna Valsesia or Gressoney with overnight stay at high altitude huts (Rifugio Gnifetti or Rifugio Mantova).

The climb to Capanna Margherita starts at dawn, crossing the immense Lys glacier and reaching 4,554 meters of Punta Gnifetti, where Europe's highest hut stands.
