Gran Paradiso (4,061 m) is the perfect mountain to experience the thrill of your first summit above 4,000 meters. A fascinating ascent set in the heart of Gran Paradiso National Park, surrounded by glaciers, wide snow-covered slopes, and spectacular views over the Alps.
The ascent of Gran Paradiso is a great classic of mountaineering, ideal for those who want to approach high altitude in a progressive and safe way, accompanied by a mountain guide.
The ascent of Gran Paradiso does not involve extreme technical difficulties, but it takes place in a high-mountain environment, on a glacier.
A good level of physical fitness, a steady pace, and the ability to hike for several hours are required. You do not need to be an experienced mountaineer, but it is important to feel comfortable on snow and ice.
With a mountain guide, you will safely tackle glacier travel, the use of crampons and ice axe, and the most demanding sections, including the iconic final passage to the Madonna at the summit.
The ascent usually takes place over two days, with an overnight stay in a mountain hut (Vittorio Emanuele II or Chabod).
The first day is dedicated to the hike up to the hut and preparation for the high-altitude ascent. The summit push starts at dawn, crossing the glacier and reaching the 4,061 meters of Gran Paradiso, before descending back to the hut and down to the valley.
